There’s something particularly heart-warming about a woodland forest theme for a child’s birthday party. I’m not sure if it’s the cute woodland creatures, the earthy greenery, mushrooms, and wood elements, or the sense of enchantment that is inevitable with this theme, but I love it. I was so excited to set up this Enchanted Forest Woodland First Birthday Party for one of my wonderful clients, and I can’t wait to share all the details with you now! Food and Drinks

Backdrop & Desserts

First, I set up the desserts on my table, on top of some faux grass and moss, and underneath a copper frame holding more moss and an adorable woodland animal “Happy Birthday” banner. And guess what? Underneath the table, I set up some colorful mushroom props coming out of the actual grass.

I set up the desserts on a variety of wooden stands, using wood slices to create elevation and visual appeal, in addition to the obvious forest tree feel.

The main focal point in the center of the table was a simple-yet-effective white cake covered with fondant leaves, plants, and mushrooms that really looked like they were growing right out of the cake!

In front of the cake, I set out a tray of amazing individually wrapped themed iced cookies that guests could take home with them.

Snacks

For snacks, I tried to come up with creative names that matched the party's theme. For example, I set out a bowl of pretzel sticks and used a sweet little food label to call them “twigs”. Guests always get a kick out of small but fun details like this, and you can get printable food labels if you sign up for my newsletter at the end of this post! I also surrounded the snacks with more foresty props, like a cute raccoon figurine to keep watch.

Drinks

It’s important to make sure guests of all ages stay hydrated (especially in Texas, where it can get quite warm outside!), so I always like to provide plenty of water. You don’t have to ruin the look of the party by keeping the original labels on water bottles, however. Just peel them off and use the woodland creature printable bottle labels I’ve added to the printable pack!

Picnic Table

Because this party was for little ones, it was especially important to have seating catered to them. But to be honest, I’m always a fan of low and comfy seating! This is particularly great outdoors, it gives the perfect picnic feel to any party. I set up a low wooden table on top of a natural jute rug, and added lots of comfy pillows to sit on.

Down the center of the table, I added more faux grass, along with mossy “woodland fairy home” centerpieces guarded by adorable animals and some pinecones.

I also added a long wooden centerpiece to the middle of the table, which held many more woodland creatures and props that really made the table feel like it was part of an enchanted forest floor!

The place settings included sweet woodland animal plates and cups for each guest.

Play Area

Finally, for a young child’s birthday, you can’t forget entertainment! I love providing a special place for little ones to play that they can feel is their own. In this case, I set up a fun little tent house, decorated with a cozy rug and pillows, and a fluffy felt garland.
